Gradually the software “learns” from mistakes, and after the training period, makes less and less mistakes when transcribing speech by the “trainer”. But, as you know, there are many situations when such training periods are unpractical. Dragon Naturally Speaking is not a viable option in one off interviews or focus groups, in meetings, or at any point when more than one person is speaking, and where that person has not been able to invest in the training period. Whew. That was a mouthful.

Adobe has an excellent package designed specially to help video editing, by providing a basic transcript that aligns with what is said in a video recording. However, once again this software is not designed with one-off interviews or focus groups in mind.
